BY ANY MEANS
A bump in the night. A shadow at the window. How long have you been staring into a reflection that is no longer your own?
By Any Means is Daniel Zender’s first large-scale solo show that explores a mixture of memory and stream of consciousness confounded by the newly exposed viscera of post-January 20th America. As an editorial illustrator, Zender merges the personal and political with disarming compassion. But as he moves beyond the printed page, his messaging captivates through more immersive mediums. Broken into two parts connected by a deepening roseate palette, Zender’s figurative paintings and mono prints render a muted, slightly sinister hysteria that asks us to consider what haunts our ideas of who we ought to be.
