Chinatown Soup is pleased to present The Parallel in collaboration with illustrator Anna Lustberg for Open Mind, a 3D virtual reality experience that invites viewers into an alternate world – within the artist’s imagination – to encounter art in a new and unexpected medium. Lustberg's 2D illustrations are brought to life in an interdimensional art fair scene that celebrates and represents her body of work against the immaculate architectural backdrop of The Parallel's design. Each viewer will have their own turn to wear a VR headset and step into this parallel universe, becoming one of the artist's characters and an explorer of another dimension.

Anna Lustberg is an illustrator, graphic designer, and creative entrepreneur based in NYC who draws playful, relatable vignettes of everyday life. After a daily drawing challenge on Instagram reignited her passion to create, she published Life is Short: A Coloring Book, illustrated a children’s book, hand-painted murals in Brooklyn and Harlem, and had a solo exhibition in September 2019 titled What's Mine is Yours: Illustrated Memories by Anna Lustberg. Anna continues to work primarily on book projects, custom artwork commissions, and collaborations.

Art across parallel mediums, in parallel universes, The Parallel is an exploration of the creative mind when presented with a limitless virtual and digital platform. Curating art events that span this dimension and the next, we exhibit physical art pieces and allow guests to experience a new level of an artist's work in virtual reality, opening up their minds and stepping into the artist’s mind. We aim to challenge our selected artists to think outside the canvas and create beyond their wildest imagination.
