THE IDEA OF HOME

Chinatown Soup is pleased to present The Idea of Home, an exhibition of design and photography by Allison Yang and Nancy Hu. Drawing on their shared cultural heritage, the artists invite visitors of different backgrounds to examine how objects and surroundings manifest 'home' as a lived and thought-about experience.

Han-Yu (Allison) Yang is a Taiwanese product designer currently based in Brooklyn. Yang is interested in regenerative material as an approach to making methods. Her inspirations come from minimizing the outlines of objects and the interaction of human beings. The application of these principles makes her work unique and amiable.

Hsiao-Wen (Nancy) Hu is a multimedia designer and illustrator with a focus on brand identity design, editorial design, and typography. Her work spans media from traditional prints to digital collages and strives to communicate through strategic storytelling and visual narratives. Hu is particularly interested in the non-virtual interactivity between people and technology, often taking inspiration from the everyday ordinary.
