ALL SEEING

Chinatown Soup is pleased to present ALL SEEING, an exhibition of mixed media works curated by Sit Studios, a creative agency established in 2022 that focuses on visual arts, events, and music to bring up emerging artists. Selected artists come together for an exploration of identity through photography, videography, wood working, painting, and textiles, reflecting unique heritages from around the world.

This exhibition is on view through July 3rd. Please join us for an after hours reception on Thursday, June 30th from 7-9pm.

Meet the Artists

Zayd Latib is an Orlando-raised artist that currently lives and works in Miami, FL. He has spent the last four and a half years working with wood, concrete, fabric and other basic building materials. Through these elements he examines the center line of form/function, material/emotion, and future/past. 

Andres Varela is a Madrid born artist. Half raised in Madrid and NYC. Coming from a family of journalists, Andres was taught the importance of documentation through life. He uses his photographs as a means of journaling his experiences and a way of keeping "tabs" of his life. 

Sofia Coronado is an interdisciplinary artist working and living in Los angeles. Born and raised in Boston she indulged in art early and later continued at the Art Institute of Chicago. Her artistic focuses include textiles, ceramics, and drawing. 

Abi Teixeira is a new jersey born skater and artist that currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. She spends most of her time filming videos and skateboarding around NYC which she has done since she was young. Her inspiration is derived from music and the joy of being around people she loves.  

Allan Arma is a Guadeloupe born artist who lived there until the age of eighteen before moving to Paris by himself to study Economics. Growing up in Guadeloupe was where his passion for photography as well as his love of  skateboarding derived. Allan’s art is highly inspired by the Caribbean diaspora as well as afro-caribbean literature.

Born in London, and based in New York. Sam Pepere is a self taught artist. Primarily using oil paints and pens, Sam’s work reflects his state of mind, often focusing on political and urban reality. In his work he leverages motifs of his day to day life, nature and cityscapes.

Patrick Edison is an Atlanta born and raised skateboarder and filmmaker. He spent most of his adolescence and younger years filming his surroundings and skating in the streets of Atlanta. Patrick derives a lot of his inspiration from being outdoors and immersing himself in nature.

Daniel El Yamen is a Lebanese/Peruvian designer and photographer drawing inspiration from his early upbringing in Beirut as well as his involvement as a youth in the Miami skate scene. He uses his keen eye to document skateboarding as well as creating clothing pieces for people from all walks of life to work and live in. 

Lauren Davis, born and raised in New York City, is a music lover with a camera who takes her energetic perspective as an avid show-goer and turns it into art. Combining still photography and restless show-going, Davis got her start in music by infiltrating any mosh pit she could with a point + shoot. Establishing relationships with artists via her chosen art form came with new + exciting opportunities to grow alongside the artists she works with. 

Tosyio Chisolm is an Atlanta raised multimedia artist focusing on collages using watercolor, pen, and at times oil to create his intricate pieces. He derives a lot of his inspiration from his mother who is a poet and a single mother of 4 children that instilled hard work in him and supported Tosyio’s expression of free thought and creativity. 

 

Kaylo Maliki is an Indonesian artist who has spent most of his life and upbringing  in the New England countryside. He has sought to capture the fields, rivers and hills of Massachusetts through photography, and this, combined with his love for outdoor athletics, have informed his creative vision.

An Contreras is a Colombian artist who studied in Bennington College and currently resides in Bogotá. As a multidisciplinary artist, An uses ethnographic research to inform their visual work, often touching upon the subjects of survival, migration and cultural constructs in Bogotá, Colombia.  Labranza is an analog animation of around 350 oil paintings and drawings that explore the means of survival in the neighborhood Santa Fe, in Bogotá. In it, An reflects on hand labor, contemporary lived experiences of migration, and analog processes. 

Jansan Pierre is a South Florida raised artist of Haitian descent currently living and working in New York City. Jansan uses his ever exploring view of the world to create photos and videos that encapsulate a sense of calamity in spaces where some might see otherwise. He uses his instincts and sense of self to champion as well as execute visions for other artists in his community.
