Support Gaza Skate Team
Please consider participating in our donation drive to support the Gaza Skate Team…
Before Nike developed a skate park under the Manhattan Bridge, we built a pop-up mini ramp and wall ride in Soup Garden with the help of long-standing local skate shops. Every day, the sound of skateboards whizzing past storefronts adds a unique rhythm to Orchard Street.
As development in downtown New York changes the accessibility of public spaces, skaters adapt by navigating new terrain and discovering the next best spots. This invites us to consider how skaters defy assumptions of rights and ownership to land and social infrastructure.
Exhibiting artist Megan Lee and Gazan skater Rajab Al Al Reefi are carrying this conversation forward on the international stage.
Megan began painting skateboards to create art objects beyond traditional canvases. Until age 17, she struggled with balance and coordination until a friend taught her how to skateboard. This experience empowered Megan, making her feel capable of achieving anything she set her mind to.
Rajab’s story of skating is similarly about perseverance, adaptability, and placemaking. Growing up, he and his friends would gather at their local skate park. However, the park, along with his neighborhood, has been repeatedly destroyed by war. Despite being displaced, Rajab remains dedicated to spreading the sport he loves to support his community.
We are contributing to a fundraiser that helps Rajab repair his family’s severely damaged home and establish a small skate park to continue supporting the youth of Gaza. Your purchase of a Megan Lee skateboard ($200, display mount included) will directly benefit these efforts, providing a safe and creative place for the next generation of skaters in Gaza.
Email us to select your board and help rebuild a space where young skaters can thrive.
100% of proceeds will benefit Rajab’s GoFundMe. Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference.
